Whenever a lawsuit is filed, prudent trial attorneys consult with appellate attorneys regarding identification of legal issues, case strategy, preparation of dispositive motions, motions in limine, jury charges, preservation of error, the intricacies of appellate procedure, the preparation of appellate motions and briefs, and ultimately the presentation of oral argument.
The Firm is experienced with all aspects of appeals in federal and state courts. The Firm also represents organizations wishing to participate in an appeal as amici curiae.
Before founding the Firm, Mr. Burns briefed appellate matters in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Eighth, Eleventh, and Federal Circuits, and all five Florida district courts of appeal. Additionally, Mr. Burns previously served as a law clerk for the Hon. Susan H. Black of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, where he has presented oral argument.
