The Firm represents on appeal criminal defendants by court appointment through the Criminal Justice Act in the D.C. Court of Appeals, the Florida district courts of appeal, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Additionally, the Firm collaborates with and accepts referrals from criminal trial lawyers to handle appeals and provide trial support.
Before founding the Firm, Mr. Burns performed white collar internal investigations for Fortune 50 companies in Indianapolis, Indiana and Bangalore, India, and represented a Fortune 500 company during a pretrial discovery dispute in a complex healthcare fraud prosecution. Mr. Burns also prepared an amicus brief on behalf of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers regarding the Search-And-Seizure Clause in Samson v. California, 547 U.S. 843 (2006).
